AmeriCorps Eldon Mission
Our mission is to invest in students and members for personal and professional success in life after AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps Eldon Program Model
- We place Academic Coaches in Eldon's Kindergarten through twelfth grade classrooms to provide individualized interventions to at-risk* students via one-on-one, small group, and whole classroom settings.
- Students are not one-size-fits all beings. We work diligently to recruit a staff from diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and levels of education to increase our opportunity to provide every at-risk student with the "just right" person to reach them where they are and empower them to succeed personally and academically.
- We craft schedules that allow members to connect with students over shared skills and interests. These connections and the consistent individualized support members provide optimize student trust and vulnerability with the members in turn optimizing their opportunity to build their reading and math proficiency.
- We believe that people often know the answers they seek, but fear failure. We will inspire and encourage people to draw on wisdom and resources they have gained through experience, to embrace what they know, and to build new strengths upon old strengths.
- The systems we teach and utilize within our Program will push students and members to their highest potential but be simple enough that they can be maintained without ongoing consultation or other assistance.
- Instilling a heart for service in the lives we touch is a the core of all we do. We will conduct service projects throughout each year of service to contribute to the greater good of our community while increasing opportunities for the students we serve to join us in serving others.
*At-risk students are those determined via diagnostic testing to be one or more grade levels behind in reading and/or math
