Academic Coach
Be a positive adult role model, develop relationships, and form meaningful connections with students while helping them with academics and their overall health and wellness. AmeriCorps Eldon Academic Coaches provide interventions to at-risk students in kindergarten through twelfth grade to help students lead more successful and healthier lives.
Interventions take place throughout regular school hours, as well as during before- and after-school programming. Academic Coaches will either focus on strictly on academics or supplement academic support with wellness activities depending on their skill set and interest. Coaches may support students in a variety of subjects such as reading, English, math, science, or social studies, and some coaches may organize games at recess, and assist in afterschool intramurals. All of our activities are designed to improve the lives of and opportunities for students and their families.
All AmeriCorps Eldon Members function as part of highly effective teams assigned to campuses. Corps community service projects connect Members to the community and its needs. Comprehensive training and support are provided to develop skills and ensure effective service.
