AmeriCorps Eldon Intervention Program
AmeriCorps Eldon serves the Eldon School District by implementing Intervention Programs to at-risk students. Academic Coaches are placed at every grade level from Kindergarten to 12th grade to support improved academic achievement for our kids. Some Academic Coaches also combat childhood obesity by supporting physical activities for students. Academic Coaches either focus strictly on academics or supplement academic support with wellness activities depending on their skill set and interest. All of our activities are designed to improve the lives of and opportunities for students and their families.
The Eldon School District is broken up into 5 different campuses: South Elementary (Preschool-3rd grade), Upper Elementary (4th-6th grade), Middle School (7th-8th grade), High School (9th-12th grade), and Mustang Academy (alternative high school). While Academic Coaches are assigned to one campus, they may be engaged in a variety of activities throughout the day by flexing into different classrooms or even tutoring in multiple subject areas in a given day. Members who also serve in a wellness capacity may support organized games during recess, promote healthy food choices during meal times, and assist with various afterschool intramurals (basketball, volleyball, archery, wrestling, soccer, running club).
For more information about the program you may contact program staff or call the AmeriCorps Eldon office at 573-392-8020 ext. 1260.
